Privacy Policy for Renata

Last updated: August 31, 2026

Renata is a client app for self-hosted Jellyfin media servers. It doesn't include, host, or provide access to any media content itself — each person who uses Renata connects it to a Jellyfin server of their own, and that server's owner controls what content and accounts exist on it.

What Renata collects

Nothing. Renata does not collect, transmit, or have access to any information about you. There is no analytics, no advertising, no tracking, and no server operated by Renata's developer that any data is sent to.

What Renata stores on your device

Renata stores your app preferences and the server address / account details you enter (so you don't have to re-enter them each time) locally on your device, using iOS's standard on-device storage. This information never leaves your device except to communicate directly with the Jellyfin server you configured — the same way any Jellyfin client talks to a Jellyfin server.

Your Jellyfin server

When you use Renata, the app communicates directly with the Jellyfin server address you provide. That server is owned and operated by you or whoever administers it — not by Renata's developer. Any data handling by that server (account credentials, watch history, playback activity) is governed by that server's own operator, not by this policy.

Third-party libraries

Renata's playback engines use two open-source libraries, MPVKit and VLCKit, both under the LGPL license. Neither collects or transmits data on Renata's behalf. Full license details are available in the app under Settings → About → Open Source Licenses.

Children's privacy

Renata does not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children, because it does not collect information from anyone at all.
